Information and tips about copper or brass products ...

What is copper and what is brass?

Copper is a beautiful reddish-orange metal that naturally oxidizes and tarnishes when exposed to air.

Some of our copper designs have been chemically antiqued (oxidized), creating a warm, rustic aesthetic.

Pure copper products are hypoallergenic.

Brass is an alloy (a mixture) made primarily of copper and zinc. By adjusting the ratio of these two metals -typically 60–70% copper and 30–40% zinc—manufacturers can create a highly durable, corrosion-resistant material with a bright, gold-like appearance.

Care instructions for copper and brass.

When you order a copper and/or brass item from our website, it will come with a small 1" black tab designed to keep your jewelry looking new and preserving its stunning antiqued appearance.

For optimal care, we recommend storing your copper and/or brass jewelry with the 1" black tab in the original plastic sleeve when not being worn.

This simple step will help prevent any further oxidation.

Additionally, you may choose to purchase a "sunshine cloth" to polish and restore the look of your jewelry.

The sunshine cloth is conveniently available on Amazon.

If your jewelry piece is looking dirty, has fingerprints, or has additional tarnish, this can be easily cleaned and restored. Simply make up a paste containg 2 tablespoons baking soda and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Apply the paste all over the back and front of the jewelry frame, wrapping wire, jump rings, dangles, and semi-precious stones.  (The mixture will not harm the semi-precious stones).  Once the piece is cleaned, remove the paste using a warm bath (not hot) solution of water.  Let it soak for 2 to 3 minutes, then take a microfibre cloth and gently pat dry.  Alternatively, you can use a sunshine cloth to dry and polish the jewelry.

Can an antiqued pure copper product be lightened?

All pure copper products can be liightened according to your preference.

To achieve this, you can apply a small amount of ketchup onto the copper item and then, after a few minutes, simply rinse with warm water and pat dry..
